"The information below is from the funeral program I printed for the family in September, 2012."

Services held Saturday, September 15th, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at the County Line Baptist Church, San Augustine, Texas with Rev. Gaylon Taylor, officiating. Funeral under the direction of Garner and Son Mortuary, San Augustine, Texas.

Mrs. Ruthie Dennis Malone of Geneva, Texas was born on March 13th, 1920 the fourth child of ten to the late Sidney and Viola (Wright) Dennis. She was raised in a Christian environment, accepted Christ at an early age, and joined New Zion United Methodist Church. After fighting a good battle, the Lord came and took a strong solider from us. Our loving sister, aunt and friend went to rest in Glory Land on Friday, September 07, 2012. She was the Financial Secretary of New Zion. She served in the Women's Army Corps (WAC) of the United States Army.

She attended public school in Geneva, Texas and in Center, Texas and graduated from Daniels High School in Center Texas. She attended several Colleges and earned a B.A. Degree in Education from Wiley College with further training at Texas Southern University, Grambling University and Stephen F. Austin State University.

In her years at Texas College she joined Delta Sigma Theta. In 1974, she joined the Lufkin/Nacogdoches Delta Sigma Theta Graduate Chapter and remained active until 2007 when her health started to decline. She was an active member and she served as Chaplain and Regional Delegate to the Arkansas conference. She enjoyed being a part of the Queens Ball and Founders Day when she was able to show off her Delta "Swag". She was also a member of the Eastern Star and was an active member until 2007.

She was an educator in the Hemphill Independent School District for over 40 years as a third grade Reading Teacher. For her, there was no greater reward than helping girls and boys get an education, accomplish their goals and have respect for themselves and others. She rejoiced and was happy, when a former student called or wrote her and said how she inspired and helped in their lives. She was an icon in the community and loved by all who knew her. She held several official positions throughout Sabine County and was always willing to help others.

She united in Holy matrimony to Mr. David Lloyd Malone. To their union no children were born, but with a heart of gold raised her twin nephews Curby & Curtis Dennis and a niece Linda Williams.

Her memory and legacy continues through her husband David Malone a resident of Hemphill Care Center. She leaves to cherish her precious memories a loving sister Johnnie Maud Johnson of Killeen, Texas; two special nephews Curby Dennis of Great Falls, Montana and Billy (Helen) Henson of Houston, Texas; A special niece Linda Sue Williams of Elmira, New York; great nephews Chrystafer (Afghanistan-US Army), Sydney and Marcus Williams of Elmira, New York and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, students and friends that she loved dearly. Her parents; five sisters, three brothers and nephew Curtis Dennis preceded her in death.
