He was employed at the charcoal plant in Meta for several years. Howard enjoyed pitching horseshoes, fishing and caring for the hummingbird feeders at the Miller County Nursing Home, where he was very loved and cared for.
Howard previously attended Tuscumbia First Assembly of God.
He is survived by one daughter, Lenna Rose Keeth of Indianola, Iowa; three sons, Joe Ward and wife Cindy of Iberia, Chris Ward and wife Faith of Ackworth, Iowa, and James Ward of Eldon; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmo Franks of Vichy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both parents, several brothers and sisters, one grandson and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 p.m., on Thursday, September 17, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Darrell Gosser will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Tuscumbia.
