Andrew Maul was 36 years old. He was shot to death by his former father in law, Robert H. Gill at the police department on friday evening at around 6 pm. Gill then went outside of town and set fire to Andrew's mothers home before crashing his truck. He was arrested for the crime when seeking treatment at Springfield Hospital.

Andy Maul, 36, of rural Jacksonville, IL died Friday evening, September 11, 2015 in Jacksonville.

He was born September 25, 1978 in Jacksonville, the son of Russell L. Maul and Debora K. Sturdy Maul.

He is survived by his father, Russell Maul (wife, Beth) of rural Jacksonville; his mother, Debbie Bartz of rural Chapin; his daughters, Halle and Chloe Maul of Jacksonville; his siblings, Errol Maul (wife, Ashley) of Worthington, OH, Jennifer Fanning (husband, Clint) of Ashland, and Jason Dean (wife, Griselda) of Pleasant Plains; his grandparents, Elinor Swain of Jacksonville and Robert and Sandra McCollom of White Hall; his special friend, Sheila Watkins; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Mary Maul.

Andy graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1996 and from Western Illinois University in 2000, where he was active in the AGR Fraternity. He had a passion for ATV racing and pursued his interest by owning and operating Maul Tech ATV in rural Jacksonville. In addition, he was a partner with his father in Maul Farms. He was a member of Literberry Christian Church in Literberry. He loved spending time with his daughters and trips to the family’s cabin in Canada.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial at Arcadia Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial gifts are suggested to Literberry Christian Church or Lake Springfield Christian Assembly.
