Florence E Lane, 68, passed away at her home in Seattle, November 15.
Mrs Lane was born in Larchwood IA, March 7, 1900 and moved to Yankton SD in 1906. She came to Terry area in 1910 and was married to Richard P Lane in Miles City July 5, 1917. They homesteaded on Custer Creek near Saugus MT, and in 1926 moved to Calypso where they ranched until he became sheriff of Prairie County on January 1, 1935. He served as sheriff until his death in 1943.
Mrs Lane moved from Terry to Seattle about 25 years ago to make her home after the death of her husband.
Surviving relatives include: three daughters, Mrs Harry Field of Tacoma WA, Mrs Clarence Knapp of Glendive, Mrs John Sable of Rancho Cordova CA; two brothers, Glen Smith of Power MT, Henry Smith of Sodus NY; five sisters, Mrs Nellie Maves, Circle, Mrs Rita Arp, Fairfield, Mrs Viola Pulver, Lyons NY, Mrs Hazel Clement, Hardin and Mrs Dorothy Conner, Walla Walla WA. There are 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
