Gordon, Stanley Jay Jr.,61, of Louisville, memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at noon at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Highlands. Jay passed away Saturday afternoon, September 12, 2015 while performing in the Wings over Big South Fork Air Show in Oneida, TN. He was born on July 16, 1954 to Stanley Jay Gordon Sr. (deceased) and Frances Mary McCurdy Gordon (deceased) of Louisville. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and his children, Jeffrey Scott Gordon (Monica), and Sara Marie Gordon; siblings Marianne Gordon Graft (Ronald); Karen Marie Gordon Armstrong; and William Gordon (Buff Ann), all of Louisville, and a host of loving family and friends. Jay was president and founder of Gordon-Darby, Inc. in 1982 which has provided thousands of people jobs and opportunities. Jay graduated from the University of Louisville with his B.S. in 1975 and graduated with his Master's of Engineering, Louisville Speed School in 1976. He was presently serving on U of L Industrial Board of Advisors and received the Alumni Fellows Award 2006 (IBA). He was an accomplished aerobatics pilot, had performed in Thunder over Louisville for the past 15 years as well as various airshows around the country over the past 20 years, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA): Presidents Council Member, member and Board Director of EAA Warbirds of America. He had his Professional Engineer Certification and was a member of Chi Epsilon National Honor Society of Civil Engineers, involved with the Commemorative Air Force and was a member of the Quiet Birdmen. Jay started the Gordon Foundation in 1995 where 100% of the donations go back into various charities both locally and nationwide.
