Joseph Stephen Kosler, 44, passed away peacefully from cancer on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Capital Caring Hospice in Arlington, Virginia.

Joseph was born May 23, 1969 in San Antonio, Texas, where he graduated from Thomas A. Edison HS in 1986, and received his B.A. in Mathematics with a Physics Minor from Trinity University in 1990. Joseph then attended the Ohio State University, where he received a M.S. and Ph.D. in Statistics. While there, Joseph also served as a research assistant and lecturer.

Recently, Joseph was a member of the Research and Development Division of the USDA NASS in Fairfax, Virginia, as well as a certified Reiki Master Teacher of Usui, Sekhem and Seichim Reiki.

Joseph is preceded in death by his father, Melvin M. Kosler, SR, and is survived by his mother Evelyn F. Kosler, brother Melvin Kosler, JR and wife Lisa, sisters Joann Kosler, Elizabeth Fischer and husband Dean, and Amy Kosler; niece Amanda Haynes and husband Michael, nephews Matthew Kosler, Andrew Kosler and James Fischer; great nephew Michael Haynes and great niece Taylor Kosler.

Services will be held at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 811 Cameron Street, Alexandria, Virginia ( Old Town), 22314, on Saturday, October 5th from 1 - 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Human Rights Campaign Fund, 1640 Rhode Island Avenue, N.W., Washington D.C., 20036 - 3278.
