Cora Mae Mefford, 99, of Canadian, died Thursday, April 12, 1990, in Eufaula. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 16, at the First Baptist Church in Canadian, with Rev. Rodney Karch officiating. Burial was at Red Oak Cemetery, Canadian, under the direction of Black's Funeral Home, Eufaula. Pallbearers were Chancy Lambert, Craig Ryden, Mike Mefford, Jamie Mefford, Danny Cicklighter and James Willingham. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Shaffer, Lee Lambert, and Bill Hancock. Mrs. Mefford was born March 27, 1891 at Canadian, Indian Territory, the daughter of Gus and Laura Glisson Eldridge. She had lived in the Canadian area all her lifetime. She was married to Ike Mefford in 1913. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church of Canadian. Survivors include two daughters, Delphia Collins and Virginia Mefford of Canadian; two sons, Alden Mefford of Longtown and R. B. Mefford of Canadian; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister and three brothers.
