SS Newlyn, built by W. Pickersgill & Sons, Ltd. Sunderland in 1913 and owned at the time of her loss by Newcastle SS. Co. Ltd. (J. J. & C. M. Forster) Newcastle. Was a British steamer of 4019 tons.
On August 2nd 1917 Newlyn on a voyage from Tyne to Genoa with a cargo of coal & coke was sunk by the German submarine UB-31 2 miles south of Prawle Point.
4 persons were lost.
