He was born December 12, 1922 in Nappanee to Henry and Lydiann (Hochstetler) Helmuth.
On January 27, 1946 he married Inez J. Slabaugh in Bremen.
She survives along with two daughters, Betty (Steven) Hudgins of Valparaiso and Margaret (John) Weaver of Pleasant Hill, Ohio; two sons, Larry (Shirley) Helmuth of Lebanon, Pennsylvania and Fred (Joanne) Helmuth of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, four brothers, John, Elmer and Lester Helmuth, all of Nappanee and Mahlon Helmuth of Peidmont, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Katie Yoder, Clara Yoder, and Martha Helmuth, and four brothers Oscar, Andrew, Victor, and James, and two grandchildren.
A lifelong resident of the Nappanee and Goshen area, Mr. Helmuth was a member of New Paris Missionary Church.
