A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac with Father David Sabel officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Pontiac.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rosary being recited at 2:30 p.m.
Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements.
Jeanne was born September 7, 1936 in Bloomington, IL, daughter of Oscar D. and Helen Josine (Maxwell) Brissenden. She married Harold “Pink” Lyons on July 4, 1986 in Pontiac, IL. He survives in Pontiac.
Also surviving are her children, Beth (Kevin) Degenhart of Colorado Springs, CO and David (Cathy) Eyre of Tucson, AZ; step-children, Ellen (Tom) Richter of Rochelle, IL, Ted Lyons, Kathy (Mike) Russow of Cornell, IL, and Tim (Cindy) Lyons of Little Rock, AR; sister, Joan Bolz of Pontiac, IL; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Jeanne attended Pontiac Grade School, Pontiac Township High School, and University of Illinois where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in English.
Jeanne was a teacher for 29 years; in Glen Ellen, Bloomington, and in Pontiac. She was a member of Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac. She was active with the St. James Hospital Auxiliary and the Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed volunteering at the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry and was an avid reader.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School or the Pontiac Public Library.
