Joyce Larkin, 88 year old Buffalo resident, passed away quietly Thursday morning at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo.

Joyce Annette Larkin was born July 1, 1927 in Ridgway Colorado to Frank and Edna Charles. She graduated high school in Ridgway in 1945. At that time Joyce also started her teaching career in a one room school near Ridgway. She attended Colorado College and earned her Masters of Arts in 1954. From 1950-1959 she taught in various schools and ended up teaching in Haines Alaska. It was in Haines that she met the love of her life, David Larkin. The couple enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying in their plane, and most of all, spending time together. The couple was married in 1959 and shortly after, moved to Buffalo.

The inseparable couple worked at Seney Point at Lake DeSmet for a short time before buying Alabam's. Joyce worked as co-owner/book-keeper. During this time they also owned the Interstate Exxon Station. The couple owned and operated Alabam's together for over 25 years.

Alabam's is where the couple met their soon to be extended family; Stan, Sharon, David, and Christie Iverson. Joyce loved spending time with her "kids" and "grandkids". She loved to teach them all about her favorite things; hunting, fishing, ice skating, gardening, cooking, and enjoying all the simple things in life.

Joyce was deeply devoted to the Catholic Church. Through the years she helped with many things from making the church deposits, to C.C.W, even going to the nursing home to do communion with the residents. She was a member of the Garden Club and the Historical Society. She even helped at the election polls for many years.

Joyce touched the lives of so many with her kind, caring, spirit and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband David Larkin of Buffalo; one brother Frank Charles and his wife Norma of Buffalo; her extended family, Stan and Sharon Iverson of Buffalo, Christie Brink and her husband Murel of Gillette, Wyoming and David Iverson and his wife Rhonda of Johnson City, Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews and a great host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Jackie Rezac and Francine Misseldine.
