On August 28, 1965, he married Mary Hanchar in Mishawaka. They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary.
Mary survives, along with their sons Randall Scott (Lisa) Murphy of South Bend, and Russell Allen (Erin) Murphy of Granger. Surviving as well are 5 grandchildren; Morgan, Ryan, Taylor, Camryn, and Nolan Murphy. He loved them all dearly.
Randy was employed as a draftsman and design engineer for many years with Dodge Manufacturing, Nyloncraft Inc. NyCo, K&F and Automatic Molded Plastics before retiring in 2004. He was also part owner of Thermoplastics Inc. in Mishawaka.
In his spare time, Randy enjoyed traveling with his family, spending time outdoors camping, driving his dune-buggy, boating on the river, and was an avid fan of NASCAR and Notre Dame Sports. He was also famous at his family gatherings for cooking “Grandpa’s Bar-B-Que Chicken.”
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home in Osceola, where there will be a rosary service at 7:30 pm. Friends may also call one hour prior to the 10:30 Funeral Mass on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Interment will be held privately at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
