Mr. Little Carey James, Sr., 85, died Saturday night (September 12, 2015) at his residence following a short illness.

He was a native of Manor and was preceded in death by his parents, Troy Burton James and Rosa Estelle Steedley James and a granddaughter, Anglea Rai Thornton.

He was retired in 1972 from the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was a member of Victory Methodist Church and was an integral member of the Church and Manor Community.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Theta Booth James of Manor; three daughters, Karen Ewers (husband Jack) of Jacksonville, FL, Bella James Mathis (husband Edwin) of Waresboro, Lucy James White (husband Jimi) of Manor; a son, Carey James, Jr. (wife Lisa Baker James) of Cumming, GA; seven grandchildren, Jessica Tanner, Chad Mixon, Roxanne Aldridge, Carter White, Haley Musgrove, Lauren James and Taylor James; six great grandchildren, Gage Jasser, Tanner Jasser, Jaya Jasser, Abbie Gillis, Kendall Mixon and Alexis Aldridge; four sisters, Louise Macik and Imogene Gilliard both of Jacksonville, FL, Lucille Hardeman of Conyers, GA, Joyce Saliba of Valdosta, GA; five brothers, Morris James of Jacksonville, FL, Kenneth James of San Antonio, TX, Billy James of Manor, Tommy James and Terry James both of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm. Thursday (September 17, 2015) at Victory Methodist Church. Burial will be in Victory Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at the Church Wednesday night from 6 until 8. The family request memorials to be given to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way Waycross, GA 31501 or Victory Methodist Church, 5062 Booth Church Road Manor GA 31550.
