Mrs. Abbott was retired from Roanoke Memorial Hospital with 16 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earnest Abbott Sr.; her stepson, Robert Earnest Abbott Jr.; her daughter, Tootie Howell; stepdaughter, Connie Arrington.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Glenn Schickler, Arlington; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Esther Porter, Austinville, Caudel N. (Link) and Libby Abbott, Roanoke, Bernard and Faye Abbott, Roanoke; one stepdaughter and two stepsons and their spouses, Vilus and Mel Linkous, Roanoke, Ned and Peggy Abbott, Vinton, Don and Jean Abbott, Bedford Co.; five sisters and one brother-in-law, Lena Blevins, Vertie and Jim Stamper, all of Bel Air, Maryland, Ruby Shupe, Cassie Cregger, both of Austinville; Ethel Parnell, Lynchburg; 23 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sixteen stepgrandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at Lotz Roanoke Chapel, noon, Saturday, July 9, 1994, with Rev. Charles Hoffler and Rev. Glen H. Sage officiating. Interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Lotz Roanoke Chapel 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. both Thursday and Friday.
