Percy George Brett born 12th January 1899, baptised 1st March 1899, son of Henry and Edith Mary, living at Redenhall. Henry is a builder. On the 1911 census the family is living at 4 Redenhall Terrace, Harleston. Edith has been a widow for more than 10 years. Ernest William, 18, is a carpenter. Leslie Henry, 16, is a coach painter's apprentice, and Percy, 12, is still at school. An older sister, Daisy Muriel, was born in 1896. They have living with them, Albert Arthur, 32, a bricklayer, who is Edith's stepson. All the children were born in Harleston. Edith died in 1949, aged 82, still living at the same address. Albert Arthur died in 1950, when he was living at Tithe Farm, St. Lawrence.

Seaman Percy Brett, served with the Trinity House Service on SS Argus (London). SS Argus was a Trinity House lighthouse tender, which struck a mine and sank in the Thames estuary north east of the Isle of Sheppey on 12th November 1940. The crew of 33 and one gunner was lost; there was one survivor. Percy married Florence, they lived at 1, Trinity Cottage, Bathside, Harwich, Essex, and he left his estate to his wife.

He is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial. This stands on the south side of the garden of Trinity Square, London, close to the Tower of London. It commemorates men and women of the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets who died in both World Wars and have no known grave.
Percy is also commemorated on the Harleston War Memorial.
