Kenneth M. "Ken" McLain Jr, 85, born in Buffalo, NY, passed away on September 11, 2015. He moved to Mansfield in 1948, graduated from Mansfield Senior High School, and attended Bowing Green State University. Ken served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and married Martha (Mert) Kinkel in 1954. He was VP of operations of North American Knitting Company for 27 years and then served as knitting analyst for Spiegel Company, before retiring in 1998. Ken loved fishing, boating, golfing, skiing, and flying his airplane. He was active in his community, serving as steward and deacon for First Congregational Church, hospital volunteer at Mansfield General, and active participant for the Korean War Veteran Organization. Ken was a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Mert McLain; daughter, Kim (Dean) Ransdell; sons, Michael (Tina Narick) McLain and Keith (Francine) McLain; grandchildren, Sean (Grace) Riggenbach, Morgen McLain, Jacob McLain, and Howard Bertrand; and great-grandson, Bruce.

Along with his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Caughman.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, September 14, 2015 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. David Root. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Cancer Foundation, 1125 Aspira Court, Mansfield, Ohio 44906.
