William Chalk Tyree, age 72, of Salisbury, North Carolina passed away Monday, September 7, 2015 at his residence.

Born June 13, 1943 in Rowan County to the late Floy Summitt Tyree and William Charlton Tyree, he was a graduate of Boyden High School. Mr. Tyree attended NC State University where he studied Mechanical Engineering. While attending NC State he acted as the school mascot for the athletic department.

He worked for K.W. Arthur for many years, then with Cyclone Roofing as an estimator until his retirement.

Mr. Tyree was a member of First United Methodist Church of Salisbury. He was an active member of the Civitan Club of Salisbury since 1977. In the Civitan Club he was awarded Rookie of the year in 1979 and Civitan of the year in 1981. He was an avid fisherman who supported the DIFF Club. Mr. Tyree was a Little League coach for over 10 years.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Linda Sommers Tyree on May 18, 2006.

Surviving is his son Eric Christopher Tyree of Salisbury, NC and daughter Stacie Tyree Schreiner and husband Erik Anton Schreiner of Raleigh, NC; brother, James Summitt Tyree & wife Sylvia; and grandchildren, Sophie Emma Schreiner and Gretchen Sommers Schreiner.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Saturday (Sept. 12) at Summersett Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM Saturday at Summersett Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow the service at:
Rowan Memorial Park.
