Born in Pawcatuck, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Estelle (James) Greene.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Westerly Senior Center; and formerly a den mother with the Cub Scouts in the 1980s.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Joseph T. Abate III of Westerly; a daughter, Donna Marie Fish and her husband Matthew of Westerly; a brother, George Greene of Charlestown; two sisters, Sandra Greene and Sharon Melia, both of Westerly; eight grandchildren, Christopher C. Abate, Stephan A. Abate, Thomas A. Abate, Frank T. Abate Jr., Jason E. Abate, Mandi Lynn Abate, John E. Litchfield Jr., and Corey M. Fish; and four great-grandchildren, Justin Abate, Matthew Abate, Charlie Abate and Samantha Abate.
She was predeceased by a son, Frank T. Abate Sr.; and by several siblings.
Calling hours will be held Friday from noon to 2 p.m. in the Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly, preceding the funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in First Hopkinton Cemetery, Ashaway.
