Billie Lou Hopper was born on May 14, 1927 in Ada, OK. She passed away on Sept. 5, in her home in Vacaville, surrounded by her family. She was 88 years old. Billie has been the matriach of her family for a very long time. 10 children were born to Vicie and Ralph Hopper. Three are surviving, her sister, Jonni (Gary) Gonzales and her brothers, Doyle Hopper and Jerry (Connie) Hopper.

Her family moved to California in 1941, lived in Fairfield for a short time before settling in Vacaville. She attended Vacaville High School and graduated in 1945. She then worked for the Telephone Company and later Dr. Morral. She married John Campos, who had just returned from the Pacific; where he served as a paratrooper in the Army. They were married for 25 years and during this time she worked as a claims Investagator for the Air Force until she retired. She received commendations and honors from Judges, The Air Force and President Ford.

Billie later married retired Master Sergeant Herman Caldwell. They were married for 25 years, until his passing.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Patrick) Hallin, and her son, Jay Campos; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim Hopper and Jack Hopper; and her sisters, Vikki Stone, JoAn Lopez, Deon Wareham, and Judy Gregorich.

Billie was a member of The Bethany Lutheran Church; she loved to crochet Afgan blankets for the family; spend time at the ocean, going clam digging, and traveling to see Historic places in the U.S.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at McCune Garden Chapel from 10 to 11 a.m.; a funeral service at 11 a.m., with burial to follow at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Foundation for the Blind, 2 Penn Plaza, Suite 1102, New York, NY--10121.
