Ms. Anita Faye (Briggs) Wood, of Maumelle, AR, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 31st, at the age of 67. Anita was born to parents Lynn and Faye Briggs on January 12, 1948, in Gassville, Arkansas.

She grew up as the eldest of three and attended Flippin High School. She married Lou Wood, also of Flippin, in 1967 and was married for over twenty years. She attended Arkansas Tech in Russellville before ultimately graduating with her undergraduate degree from Henderson in Arkadelphia. She later obtained her Master's degree in English from the University of Central Arkansas.

Anita was a dedicated member of the Arkansas Public School System for over 40 years. She served as a teacher and administrator at numerous schools throughout the state in her career. Even after retirement some 5 years ago, she would periodically substitute at her grandson's school in Little Rock.

Anita is survived by her daughter, Amanda Booe (Jamie); her son, Travis Wood; her sister, Karen Shelby (Cliff); her brother, Rick Briggs (Corrinnia); grandchildren Carley, Evan, Lane and Luke, and several nieces and nephews. She also left behind her beloved dogs, Milly, Ivy Rose, and Abe. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Following her wishes of a cremation, a "Celebration of Life" will be held on Monday, Sept. 7th from 6p-8p at Blue Heron Campground in Flippin, AR for friends and family. The family is grateful for condolences; in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis or Helping Hands for Little Paws in Little Rock.
