Lynn Hoffman, 67, of Waco, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. A celebration of Lynn's life will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 12, at "The Chapel" at Highland Baptist Church with pastors Mark Wible, John Durham, and Kyle Dunn officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, September 11, at Lake Shore Funeral HomeLynn Bette Hoffman was born on December 2, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan. Lynn lived her life to glorify her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her relationship with Him effected every area of her life from family to work to friends and to know Lynn was to learn about her God.She married Norman Hoffman on April 6, 1968 after waiting on his return after a years tour in Vietnam. Together they traveled the world and lived in Okinawa, Japan for 2 and a half years. While in Japan they welcomed their son Timothy into the world. After returning to the states they moved to Waco which opened the door for them to add their daughter Heather to the family.Lynn had worked for 15 Years for Highland Baptist Church as the Senior Adult Coordinator. Lynn was a passionate advocate for the senior adult community of Waco. She believed that life should be filled with fun activities for people of all ages. She pushed her adults to try new things and to attend events in Waco and all over central Texas. She had just formally announced her pending retirement in November of this year to the church staff. She was passionate about her church responsibilities and considered it life giving. Her husband Norman would retire this year also and they looked forward to spending more time with the grandkids and cruising.Lynn carried the burden of juvenile diabetes since the age of 15. Shots and needles were part of the Hoffman lifestyle and she was a master at understanding the disease. That burden was increased when in 1993 she faced open heart surgery . She continued to work every day and loved the engagement of all those she was in contact with. To many she was remembered as the "Lady with the double rimmed glasses".Lynn loved the Lady Bears Basketball Team and used her season tickets to attend every home game for the past six years.Lynn's special song was "God is the Strength of my Heart" and that was how she lived her life.Lynn is survived by her husband, Norman; son, Timothy Hoffman and his wife, Shelley, of Houston; daughter, Heather Hoffman of South Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Connor and Lauren Hoffman; as well as sisters, nieces, nephews and extended family. Lynn is also survived by her daughter by choice, Kimberly Parsons and her husband, Jamey, and grandchildren James and Andrew; and many other children by choice spread throughout the world.
