Betty Lou Haufschildt, age 83, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Parkside Care Center, Little Chute, with her family by her side. Betty Lou was born on September 21, 1927 in Appleton, daughter of the late Edward and Pearl Wolfgram Barber. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1945. Betty Lou was employed at Scolding Locks, Prange Way, and Julie Ann Fabrics. She was a member of the Appleton Moose Lodge 367 in the mid to late 1970's. Betty Lou was a decorated archer, winning multiple city championships. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, reading, Jigsaw puzzles, and John Wayne movies. Betty Lou was known as "The Pot Holder Lady" at many local craft sales and flea markets.
Betty Lou is survived by three sons, Larry L. Haufschildt, Appleton, Randy L. Haufschildt, Weyeuwega, and John E. Diane Haufschildt, Kaukauna; one daughter, Lori A. Jones, Appleton; a daughter-in-law, Kris A. Breit, Appleton; ten grandchildren, Travis Jessica Haufschildt, Lisa Mark Handrich, James Amanda Haufschildt, Tina Nick Attoe, Brian Haufschildt, Taylor Haufschildt, Shannon Haufschildt, Amy Eric DeGroot, Benjamin Haufschildt, and Barnaby Jones; 12 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ethan, Karlee, Kolin, Kaiden, Trevor, Blake, Daylyn, Kari, Lillyan, Jami, and Jeremy; one brother, Clifford Marge Barber, Appleton; and two sisters-in-law, Lorna Barber, Appleton, and Dorothy Kostka, Wausau.
She was further preceded in death by her ex-husband, LeRoy Haufschildt; a son, David K. "Horse" Haufschildt; a granddaughter, Jennifer L. Haufschildt; a sister, Phyllis Jones; two brothers, Edward Barber, Jr., and Bruce Pat Barber.
