Son of Mrs. A. Aloyse O'Brien who resided in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

David served as a First Lieutenant & Bombardier on B-24D #42-72847, 513rd Bomber Squadron, 376th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Bristol County, Massachusetts prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on July 7, 1941, prior to the war, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the production of bakery products and also as Single, without dependents.

B-24D #42-72847 took off from San Pancrazio, Italy on a bombing mission over Regensburg, Germany. After the bombing mission was completed B-24J #42-100253, for an unknown reason, crashed into B-24D #42-72847 causing both aircraft to crash in Germany during the war.

David was "Killed In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
