COLUMBIA - Nina Rae Swain Hassell Rowe, 80, of Columbia died Sunday, September 6, at Cross Creek Nursing Center in Swan Quarter.

Born January 23, 1935 in Tyrrell County she was the daughter of the late Clarence Plato Swain and Stella Bateman Swain and was preceded in death by her husband, James Stewart Hassell; sisters, Rosetta S. Sutton and Libby Massey; brothers, Donald Gene Swain, William Flay Swain and Ray Swain. Nina was a home health nurse and member of Cabin Swamp Church of Christ.

Her family includes her sons, Chris W. Hasell and wife Ginger, Jeffery S. Hassell and Lynn Hassell all of Columbia, N.C.; sister, Doris Lusk of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, September 8 at Cabin Swamp Church of Christ with Thomas Biggs officiating....
