Wanda Irene (Ray) Hudson, 89 a resident of Baxter Springs, passed away Sept. 8 after a short illness.
Mrs. Hudson was born Aug. 18, 1926 to the parents of Ollie D and Jewell (Williamson) Ray. She lived in Baxter Springs, Kan. She married Orville L. Hudson, Jr. who is now deceased.

Wanda worked at Lerner mfg., Baxter, Glenn Berry Commerce, Okla., Spencer Chemical, Riverton and Ammunition Plant, Parsons. She owned three beauty shops, Charme Beauty Salon, Thunderbird Salon, and Continental Beauty Supply and Hair Affair, all in Miami, Okla. She sold real estate with Vera Blue, best but most interesting jobs she ever had was interior decorating making pillows, bears, dolls, drapes, and making clothes for troops in Vietnam. She was quite an artist, painting in oils in groups with Charles Banks Wilson. She was the last surviving classmate of her year at Quapaw High School. Wanda was very proud of her Syrian heritage.
She is preceded in death by one son Kevin Alan Hudson
She is survived by one son, Orville L. Hudson III and wife Bonnie of Carthage, Mo., daughter in law Nikki Welch and husband David of Joplin, Mo., two sisters, Eva L. Smith of Commerce, Okla. and Shirley and husband Danniel Eiland of Baxter Springs, Kan., three grandchildren Kelly Miranda (Glidewell), Kodi Lea Snodgrass and Vanessa Marie Hudson, great grandchildren Haven Marie Gildewell, Nathaniel Lane Hudson and James Bradley Neher.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2015 at the Lowell Cemetery in Lowell, Kan. with Pastor David Welch officiating.
