Nathan Dyer O'Neil

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Nathan Dyer O'Neil, son of the late Joseph C. and Marie D. O'Neil, was born in Portland on July 6, 1923. He died on Nov. 14, 2010, in San Antonio, Texas.

A graduate of the University of Connecticut, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Always interested in math and cybernetics, he helped introduce early computer systems to Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford, Conn., where he was a vice-president. Prior to his retirement and move to San Antonio, he lived in Colebrook, Conn.; summers he visited the O'Neil family home on Chebeague Island.

He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph C. Jr., his sister, Edith O. Myers; and his wives, Roseanne Myers and Evelyn Howard. He leaves his stepsons, George and Richard Howard and their wives; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Lessing Evans of Princeton, N.J.
