Irvin Cole rites held
Funeral services for Irvin Cole were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 1987 at the United Methodist church, Hopkinton, with interment in the Hopkinton Cemetery. Rev. Marcia F Sangel officiated at the service.
Irvin, 67, of Hopkinton died Wednesday, Oct. 14 at his home.
Irvin was born Sept. 28, 1920 at Colesburg, the son of Frederick and Anna Bloodsworth Cole. He attended school in Colesburg and later in Hopkinton. Irvin served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He returned to Hopkinton after his military service.
Irvin Cole and Frances Peck were married July 26, 1946 at Anamosa. The couple lived for a brief time in Hopkinton before moving to Montpelier. Irvin worked at the Frank's Foundry in Bettendorf. He was employed there for 33 years and retired in 1979. In 1980 the couple moved back to Hopkinton. Irvin was a member of the America Legion.
Irvin is survived by his wife, a daughter, Marcia Lee Hoack of Davenport, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a sister, Mary Kurt of Anamosa and four brothers, William and Junior, both of Davenport, Pete and Elmer, both of Manchester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Irvin Jr, one brother and one sister.
