She was the daughter of Silas Harris and Annaretta Wright. She married William Hawk on October 7, 1827.

She and her family were migrating from Iowa to Salt Lake City. As they were crossing Nebraska, near Ash Hollow, the horses suddenly panicked, and she was thrown out of the wagon. Then the oxen started to stampede and they trampled her. She lived for about a day, and then died. Her husband, William Hawk, was forced to bury her along the trail, and then the family continued onward to Utah. They were Mormons.
