Laura Elizabeth "Betty" Postle Stevens, 98, passed away in Tucson, Ariz., on Aug. 24, 2015.
Betty was born on April 17, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Albert and Lena Postle. She attended school in upstate New York, where she graduated with honors.
Betty met and married Way G. Stevens on Aug. 29, 1942. Together with their children, Betty and Way spent 20 years traveling the country and exploring the world as a military family until they settled in Sierra Vista, Ariz., in 1960.
Betty is predeceased by her husband, Way; her son, Richard; and grandson, Chad.
She is survived by her son, Way Jr. (Gean); daughter, Jule Stevens Wilson (Tom); and youngest son, Mark (Mary); six grandchildren: Way III, Monica Stevens-Kopp, Robert Jirousek, Mark Stevens, Megan Wilson, and Patrick Wilson; and seven great-grandchildren: Bradley, Lia, and Ali Kopp, Mackenzie and Robert Jirousek, Abigail Littleton, and Christopher Stevens.
Betty gave numerous hours and support to many charitable organizations. The Foundation for Blind Children, Tucson Association for the Blind, KTUA, Women's VFW Auxiliary, Order of Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, and DeMolay Boys all benefitted from her gifts of time and support.
Many thanks to Christy and her staff at Gracious Havens for treating Betty with respect and dignity as she faced her final days.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, at Cochise Memory Gardens, Sierra Vista.
