Mrs. Effie Russell, 94, of Boydell died Monday, February 10, 2003, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. A native of Lyon, Arkansas, and a resident of Boydell since 1945, she was the postmaster in Boydell for thirty-eight years. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist mother church in Boston and attended the Montrose Baptist Church. She was a past Matron and member of the Delta Chapter 571, Order of the Eastern Star in Portland and had received her fifty year pin. She was an avid fisherman and loved fishing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Russell Sr. in 1982; a son, Clyde Russell Jr. in 1994; and a daughter, Mittie Muriel Brinkman in 1965; and her parents, William and Odom Chambers Gammel.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Opal Russell of Boydell; six grandchildren, Ricky Russell of Boydell, Gail Doyle and Becky Young of Dallas, TX, Cindy Allen of Little Rock, Rusty Brinkman of South Haven, MS, and Chuck Brinkman of Memphis, TN; thirteen great- grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 13, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Larry Donaldson officiating. Burial followed services at the Dermott Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Winters, Mark Rice, Don Naron, Bill Sellers, David Clark and Bob DeFir. Memorials may be made to the Montrose Baptist Church, PO Box 275, Montrose, Arkansas 71658.
