Newton Randolph Bailey, 81, of Amherst, passed away, Monday, September 7, 2015 in Amherst. Mr. Bailey was born in Tye River, November 20, 1933, to the late Lila Fields Bailey and Richard Melvin Bailey.

He is survived by an older brother, Richard Mortimer Bailey of Madison Heights; and several nieces and nephews, Jimmy Hewitt of Arlington, Bekki Poinar of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Chris and Mark Lane of Springfield, Larry Gravely of Lynchburg, Dana Mallory of Athens Ga., Linda McDaniel of Madison Heights, Jim Bailey of Madison Heights, Brenda Bailey of Lynchburg, John Bailey of Woodbridge, and Michele Stewart of Akron, Ohio.

Newton was preceded in death by his brothers, William Elsworth Bailey and Dewey Cabell Bailey; and sisters, Hazel Hewitt, Patricia Reid, Paige Lane, and Elizabeth Gravely. He will be sorely missed by all his relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2015, at St. Stephens Baptist Church with the Rev. Mickey Ryan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
