TORRINGTON — William L. Richard, 80, of Torrington, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 3 at Torrington Health and Rehab Center. He was the husband of Faith Benjamin Richard, married for 58 years.

Born in Torrington, Conn. on Aug. 9, 1935, he was the son of the late Vesta (Bates) and Paul Richard. As a boy, he loved to spend time on his uncle's farm in East Hartland. Bill served in the National Guard.

Before his retirement, he was co-owner of Torrington Beef, Litchfield Lockers and ValueMart. A lifelong resident of Torrington, Conn., Bill enjoyed car restoration and woodworking.

In addition to his wife, he leaves sons William Craig Richard and his wife Elisabeth, and Kevin John Richard and his wife Patricia, and their children Candace, Lindsay, Ashley, Steven and Elissa.

He also leaves a daughter Tammy Lynn Casey and husband Patrick, and their son Patrick James Casey. He leaves 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, with burial following at Newfield Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m.
