Joseph J. “Joe” Stone, age 91 years, a farmer, of Prescott, MI, passed away on September 7, 2015 at his home. He was born on August 11, 1924 in Churchill Township, Ogemaw County, MI to John and Lida (Tester) Stone. He was married to Gertrude Madden who preceded him in death. Joe loved to hunt, fish and dearly loved to drive his John Deere tractor. He also ran a saw mill. Joe served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Joe is survived by his children; Lillian (William) Alexander of Midland, Josephine Stone of Prescott, Thelda (Scott) Cooke of South Carolina, and Sharon Stone of Bay City; 9 grand-children; 13 great grandchildren; siblings; Bonnie, Mary, Chris, Lena, Bob, Howard and Florence. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gertrude; children, Carl, Delbert, Richard, and Lela; and siblings; Alex, Frank, Sally, Elizabeth, Lavina and Eva.
Visitation took place on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 10 am to 1 pm. Services were held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Prescott Chapel of the Buresh Funeral Homes, Inc. with Rev. Lisa Kurtz officiating. Interment was in the Logan Township Cemetery in Hale with the Ogemaw County Veterans providing military honors.
