He was a resident of Russellville, Arkansas for many years, where he served as the first black alderman and he was a member of the City Council in Menifee, Arkansas for a number of years. Jewell was employed with AP&L, the Mayflower School District and Waste Management.
Survivors include his loving wife, Shawna Renee Jackson; children, Marcus and Melody Jackson; mother Ernestine Jackson; two sisters, Brenda Sweat Martin and Chandra Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 11, 2015 at Pleasant Hill #2 Missionary Baptist Church in Kenwood, Arkansas (Hwy 64). The Rev. Luke Hawkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
