John Oscar weaver, very well known and respected resident of this community for many years, died suddenly at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Sycamore Municipal Hospital where he had been a patient for a couple of weeks.
He was born in Kirkland on December 8, 1890, the son of Jesse Clarence Weaver and Rhoda Ann Kelton Weaver. He attended the schools in that area growing to mature years there and in Kingston, later moving to Sycamore in 1908 where his home has since been made. He was a veteran of World War II, was a member of the Sycamore American Legion Post 99, was a member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars, 5768, also a member of the local Odd Fellows Lodge and had served as alderman of his ward. Weaver retired as third ward alderman in 1953 after 12 years on the city council.
On December 31, 1936, he was married to Jennie Mae Stanton at Belvidere. Mr . Weaver had been an employee at the Anaconda Wire and Cable Company for many years.
He is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. Earl Wylde, of this city and a brother, Earl Weaver of Des Plaines, also by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral rites are to be conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. from the Coultrip Funeral Home with the Reverend Clarence Diercks of the Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood cemetery. Friends may call at the local funeral home until time of the services.
