William Dawson
William Smith Dawson, 77, formerly of 122 High street, died of infirmities incident to old age Tuesday morning at the Masonic home, Bettendorf, Ia., where he had been living for about six weeks.
A resident of Waterloo for 42 years, he left here in 1942 for the Eastern Star home at Boone, Ia. He was formerly employed as a tool maker at Galloway Co., Inc. retiring about 15 years ago.
Mr. Dawson was born May 5, 1868, at Lexington, Ill., a son of Washington and Martha Dawson. On Sept. 24, 1890, he married Pearl Turner in Waterloo. She preceded him in death. Mr. Dawson was a member of Lodge 105, A.R. & A.M., and of Tabernacle chapter 52, R A.M.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George Wolever, Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. John W. Banton, near Albany, N.Y.
The body will be brought Wednesday to Kearns Garden chapel.
