Colton Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Mary "Rosalie" Caldwell, and his son, James Joseph Caldwell, and is survived by his son, William Mark Caldwell, of Livingston, Montana. He also leaves behind five grandchildren.
He served his country in the Navy during World War II and received a Purple Heart while serving on the USS CanBerra in 1945. He also served on the USS Marblehead in the Asiatic Fleet.
He was a member of the American Legion Hall, VFW. He retired from the Southern California Gas Company after 35 years of service.
He was a member of the MARS Network Organization and the Citrus Belt Amateur Radio Club. His callsign was "WA6RUD". He was very active in the City of Colton's emergency response team in the 1980's.
He leaves behind family and many friends who loved and supported him while he lived in Colton for over 60 years. he traveled to Montana for thirty years with his wife to visit his son and many friends. He recently began traveling to his home state of Ohio to attend family reunions.
