Services for Gary Hewitt were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. Rev. Chester Zuleger and Rev. David Haugly officiated. Organist was Rick Grieger.
Pallbearers were James and Joel Braun; Steve, Marc, Charles and Andrew Hewitt; Greg, Steven and Anthony Smith; and Jason, Ryan and Dayton Wohlman. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery near Wood Lake.
Gary Nolan Hewitt was born to Neal and Eleanor (Mueller) Hewitt on July 20, 1939 at Pipestone. He was baptized on October 22, 1939 and confirmed on July 11, 1954 in Elkton, S.D. On June 21, 1959 he married Marjorie Ann Schmidt at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. He enjoyed farming, sports and spending time with family and friends.
Gary Hewitt died on Monday, Oct. 2, 2000 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, Wis. at the age of 61.
Survivors and their spouses include his wife, Marjorie of Wood Lake; two daughters: Laurie and Steve Vaught of Memphis, Tenn. and Sheri and Rev. David Haugly of Fond du Lac, Wis.; six grandchildren; his mother, Eleanor Hewitt of Clarkfield; father-in-law, Arnold Schmidt of Granite Falls; two brothers: Gordon and Loretta Hewitt and Rick and Colleen Hewitt, both of Granite Falls.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father, mother-in-law and son Craig.
Kulow Funeral Service of Echo was in charge of the arrangements.
