Carl Pattison Adams was born in Pennsylvania

Came west with his wife and two small children from Pennsylvania in 1908, They went to Rutledge, Sherman County, Oregon where he taught school that winter. The following year he rented a wheat ranch in Shelton Fritts and that winter once more taught school.

By the year 1920 two more children had joined the family and they had returned to Rutledge purchasing a farm from J. J. Wiley, where he remained until 1944. He retired to The Dalles where he purchased a home.

He was very interested in the community around him. He had been an active member of the Harland Grange, also the Pomona Grange. He was an executive committee of the Oregon State Grange at the time of his passing.
