Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Thursday morning, September 3, 2015 from Shiloh Baptist Church, 10565 Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin. The Reverend Ricky Crosby officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard.
Born October 18, 1922 in Colleton County, he was a son of the late Charlie Roberts and the late Mammie Roberts. He worked a faithful and dedicated career with the South Carolina Highway Department where he retired as a foreman.
He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Mr. Roberts was a talented craftsman and woodworker, having created many priceless treasures for his family and friends. An outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. His greatest dedication and work in life was farming, which he has done since he was a child.
Surviving are: four sons, Charlie Roberts and his wife Shelly, Jerry Roberts, Tommy Roberts, and Wendell Davenport and his wife Deeann all of Ruffin; three daughters, Sandra Davenport of Jackson, Pamela Chinners and her husband Richard of Ruffin, and Terri Hiers and her husband Bill of Varnville.
There are eighteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren that also survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry; and a daughter, Janice.
