Funeral was Thursday, September 10, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Wolsey with burial in the Wolsey Cemetery.
Dorothy Jean Langbehn was born on July 28, 1922 in Manning, Iowa to Arthur and Anna (Damman) Langbehn. She moved to the Wolsey area with her family as a small child. Dorothy attended country schools and then later Wolsey Public Schools.
She married Albert Menning on November 23, 1939 in Huron. They farmed in the Wessington and Wolsey areas until 1960, when they moved to Wolsey. They operated Menning Recreation for 11 years and Dorothy worked there for a total of 40 years.
Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wolsey and the Wolsey Senior Center. She enjoyed dancing, playing bingo, playing cards and watching westerns on TV.
Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Marlas (Douglas) Balvin of Huron; two grandchildren, Kristi (Dewey) Perrin of Huron, Dale (Jamee) Balvin of Scottsdale, AZ; three great grandchildren, Trevor, Tracee, and Todd Balvin of Scottsdale, AZ; several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert in 1977; brothers, Ralph and LeRoy in infancy; sisters, Millie Bolte, Alice Lyman, Helen Huddleston, Edna Mae Williams, Margorie Garner; numerous nieces and nephews.
