Irene M. Krostag, 101, formerly of Kiel and Green Bay, died Sunday morning, September 6, 2015 at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center. She was born on October 8, 1913 in Kiel, daughter of the late Edward & Mary (Wittrock) Krostag. Irene attended Kiel Schools and was a graduate of Mission House College ( Lakeland College). She later received her Masters Degree. She began her teaching career in Shawano and later moved to Green Bay were she taught for many years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel and the Audubon Society. Irene enjoyed traveling, visiting every state in the US and traveling in Europe. She also enjoyed nature, growing flowers around her home and in her greenhouse. She also had a great love of photography. Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Ann (Ivan) Eernisse, Tomahawk, Edward A. Krostag, Sheboygan, John (Carla) Krostag, Oostburg, William (Shirl) Krostag, Grafton and James (Denise) Krostag, Oostburg. She is further survived by great nieces, nephews and close friend, Richard of Hawaii. She was preceded in death by one brother, Edward (Alice) Krostag. Private family services were held at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel with Licensed Lay Minister, Dan Krueger officiating. Burial took place in the Kiel City Cemetery. Irene's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center for the wonderful care she received.
