Mr. Austin died in the Clinton County Hospital at Frankfort at 3:07 a.m. Tuesday. He had been a patient in the hospital since last Thursday.
Born in Jasper County, Oct. 18, 1831, he was the son of Sylvester A. and Amanda (Root) Austin.
On March 1, 1917 he was married to Leafy Jane Miller, who preceded him in death Jan. 23, 1962.
He was a retired farmer and had been an elder of the Middlefork Old German Baptist Church. He had resided in the Rossville community since 1918.
Among the survivors are three sons, Paul of Bringhurst R.R. 1; John of Rossville R.R. 1, and Joseph of North Manchester R.R. 1; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Skiles, Pratt, Kan.; three brothers, Alpha Austin and Willie Austin, both of Rossville, and Jesse Austin of Flora, and nine grandchildren. A sister and a brother are deceased.
