Anthony G. Skedros, M.D., 32 years old, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend passed away on Sunday, March 23 from a sudden cardiac arrest, stemming from a previously unrecognized heart abnormality.

He is remembered for his gregarious personality, generous nature, athletic prowess, keen mind, strong work ethic, and commitment to God and family. He was born June 29, 1964. As a little boy, he worked at Mountain View Pharmacy and as a teenager at the Mandarin Restaurant in Bountiful, Utah. He attended Viewmont High School in Bountiful, Utah where he was voted exemplary athlete and senior class president, 1983. He attended the University of Utah, where he was an all-WAC track athlete. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1993, Anthony completed an Emergency Medicine Residency at Hennepen County Hospital in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn. Since that time he was employed at the Salt Lake Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his parents, Gregory J. and Jenny P. Skedros; brothers, Taki (Demetrios) and John; sisters, Katina and Angel; uncle Constantine Skedros and Anna (deceased); and cousins, Angela; Nia; James and Cindy, all of Salt Lake City; uncle and aunt Alex and Angie Pappas and cousins, Kathy; Jacque; Dena and John, all of Phoenix, Ariz.

Anthony was an accomplished fly-fisherman, having traveled several times to New Zealand. He enjoyed playing with nephew, Gregory and nieces, Katerina and Jenny Skedros and niece, Kora Temme and took great joy in his cousins' children. He was also very active in church activities and was the co-coordinator of the recent Western Regional Snow Conference religious retreat of the Denver Greek Orthodox Diocese, held in Park City, Utah.

Our Anthony has left us, no longer will his engaging smile, passion for life, easy laugh, and genuine concern for all, lift the hearts of family and friends. His sudden departure has left a void in all who knew him, for he was greatly loved. Although he was taken in the fruit of manhood, we have some consolation that he has gone to a better place. God knows his own and Anthony was never meant to grace us for long. How we cherish your memory. We have given up our best and now must continue on. Thank you, God, for our brief association with Anthony -- son, brother, uncle, and dear friend. Please help us to live by his example until we all can be together again.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 27, 1997 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral on 300 West and 300 South, Salt Lake City. Viewing is at Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, Wednesday, 6-7:30 p.m. with Trisagion Prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the Skedros family would be pleased if you would make donations to the Anthony G. Skedros Memorial Fund, c/o Barnes Bank, 100 South 500 West, Bountiful, UT 84010.
