Actor. Born Martin Sam Milner, he was best known to television viewers as both Tod Stiles on the CBS series "Route 66" from 1960 to 1964 and Officer Pete Malloy on the NBC series "Adam-12" from 1968 to 1975. He became involved in acting at a young age, first in school and then in a children's theater group. His family later moved to Los Angeles and hired an acting coach and agent for him. He made his acting debut in the 1947 film"Life with Father". He would go on to have bit parts in two films before graduating from high school in 1949. That same year, he appeared in the film "The Sands of Iwo Jima". He went on to attend the University of Southern California where he studied theater, but dropped out after one year to concentrate on acting. He went on to appear in several films and make his first television appearance on the series "The Lone Ranger" in 1950. He later had a recurring role on the television series "The Stu Erwin Show" from 1950 to 1951. Besides "Route 66" and "Adam-12", he would go on to appear in such television series as "Dragnet", "The Life of Riley", "The Millionaire", "The Virginian", "Run for Your Life", "Swiss Family Robinson", "Fantasy Island", "MacGyver", "Life Goes On", and "Murder, She Wrote". He also went on to appear in numerous films during his career with such credits as "Mister Roberts" (1955), "Pete Kelly's Blues" (1955), "Gunfight at the O.K. Corral" (1957), "Sweet Smell of Success" (1957), "Marjorie Morningstar" (1958), "Valley of the Dolls" (1967), and "The Swiss Family Robinson" (1975). After retiring from acting in the late 1990s, he co-hosted a fishing radio show at a San Diego, California radio station. He passed away of heart failure.
