Glenn Edward Bird, 76, of Rome, passed away on August 31, 2015, at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 10, 1938, in Shamokin, PA, a son of Clement and Leah Ramer Bird. Glenn was a graduate of R.F.A. class of 1957 and on July 26, 1958 he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Shaver in St. Mary’s Church in Rome. For over twenty years Glenn worked as the store manager of the Food-A-Rama Grocery Store. His customers had several nicknames for him such as Packer, Harvey and Joe. Glenn was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and fishing with relatives and friends. When not camping in the woods, Glenn could be found driving his 1977 Corvette around Rome or participating in one of the many Tappet Twirlers car shows. Glenn’s true passion in life was helping raise his grandchildren.

Surviving Glenn are two daughters, Janet Garmany and Tracey Bird Remillard, both of Rome; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Catherine Bird, Ava; three brothers, Bernard Bird, Westmoreland, Ronald and Catherine Bird, Rome and Dennis Bird, Floyd; a sister Pauline Kotary, Floyd; ten grandchildren, Julie, Daniel, Sarah, David, Zachary, Kelsey, Jason, Ryan, Matthew and Jack; five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Evan, Owen, Cassidy and Luciana. He was predeceased by a brother Thomas Bird
