CARL SPINKS
Carl Spinks, 72, a former Carterville resident, died at 3:45 p.m. , Friday, Nov 21, 1975, at the Hampton Nursing Mannor in Herrin.
He was born Feb. 8, 1903 in Marion to Sylvester and Eta Best Spinks.
Mr. Spinks was retired truck driver and lived at 230 Stone St. in Carterville.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Eta Brazitis of Elkville; and three sons, Carl R. and William, both of Herrin, and Robert L. of Richmond, Wash. He also is survived by 9 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, at the Riggin Funeral Home in Carterville. Friends may call after 6 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the McKinney Hill Cemetery in Carterville.

Carl was born Feb 8, 1903 in Marion (proven by delayed birth record) to Sylvester and Ora (Branson) Spinks who died in 1904 after giving birth to their second child. Ora is buried along with their daughter in her arms in the South County Line Cemetery in Jackson County, Illinois (also proven by death record of the birth and death records of their daughter Pearl).
The surviving daughter mentioned in the obit her name was Mrs. Betty Delores (Spinks) Brazitis of Elkville not Eta and the son mentioned as William his name was not William it was Billie Gean Spinks of Herrin.
