Dillard Hugh Price, 86 of Southport passed away on September 5, 2015 at Ocean Trail Nursing Center. Mr. Price was born December 6, 1928 in Brunswick County, the son of the late Francis Dillard Price and Evie McDowell Price.

He was a veteran of the US Navy having served in WWII. Following his service in the Navy, he worked as a civil servant at Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point for nearly 30 years. Following his retirement he owned and operated Hugh's Backhoe Service. Mr. Price was a member of First Baptist Church of Oak Island, he previously served in other local Baptist Churches as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and choir member. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Price was preceded in death by his first wife Emmer Lee Price.

Surviving is his wife Carolyn Dosher Gerding Price, a son Dwayne Price and wife Patti Gail of Bolivia; two daughters Linda Melton and husband John of Wilmington, and Cathy Brown and husband Keith of Southport; a step-son Glenn Gerding and wife Alethea of Chapel Hill; a step-daughter Melody G. Millsaps and husband Kent of Monroe; six grandchildren, April Stewart and husband Blaize, Jennifer L. Price, Meredith Hoffman and husband Peter, Allison Mainhart, Jonathan Brown, and Jessica Brown; five great-grandchildren, Amelia Gail Stewart, Henry Samuel Hoffman, Hannah Rebekah Hoffman, Aiden Smith, and Nathan Mainhart; and two step-grandsons, Graham Gerding and Jackson Gerding.

The funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Oak Island with Reverend Charlie Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Northwood Cemetery in Southport. The family will receive friends from 11 – 12 noon prior to the service at the church.
