Mr. Willie Frank Colvin, ("Bud"), was born July 24, 1951, in Sellers, Alabama to Mrs. Sylvia Lee Jackson and Mr. Frank Lee Colvin. He was called home on November 3, 2013.
Willie was an excellent student. His academic progress was accelerated with the distinction of skipping two full grades. When he was 16 years old he graduated from George Washington Carver Sr. High School in 1968, where he was inducted into the National Honor Society.
Willie's keen intellectual capabilities, led him to serve his country in the United States Navy. During his tenure in the Navy, he achieved the highest military clearance. He served on the U.S.S. Ranger until he was honorably discharged.
Willie's high academic performance continued during his college life and he was invited to join the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Willie loved his family beyond condition and unselfishly nurtured and cared for so many.
Willie was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mrs. Sylvia Lee Jackson and his father, Mr. Frank Lee Colvin. Also preceding him in death were two sons, Elijah Paul, III and Tavares Demond Prevo, and two brothers Earnest Jackson, Sr. and Peter Jackson, Sr.
Willie leaves to honor his precious memories; a cherished and loving wife of 36 years, Mrs. Sheryl Paul Colvin; a devoted daughter, Ms. Celeste Paul (James Smith); a devoted son, Giovanni Colvin; and a host of beloved grandchildren, all of WA, with honorable mention to Rio Paul and Mark Paul, dedicated grandchildren who worked tirelessly as caregivers for their grandfather throughout his sustained illness.
Willie also leaves, three sisters: Ms. Rose A. Akram of Los Angeles, CA; Ms. Sandra Amidah Akram of Montgomery, AL; and Mrs. Barbara Jones (Hellord) of Baltimore, MD; a brother, Lawrence James Willis of Sellers, AL; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Rosie Jackson, Montgomery, AL, aunts: Mrs. Bertha Martin of Birmingham, AL, Mrs. Julia Colvin of Sellers, AL, Mrs. Eloise Hall of Montgomery, AL and Mrs. Doris Butler of Birmingham, AL; uncles: Ulysses Darby and Eddie Darby of Montgomery; special devoted cousins: Mrs. Zenobia Blackmon (Percy) and Cliff Dudley (Sagusta); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, devoted cousins; Rev James A. Myers, Sr. (Eloise) and Jacquelyn Myles-Blake (Minister Christopher), both of Davenport, AL.
