Mrs. Mattie Archbell Anderson Bishop, age 97 of Enfield, N.C. died Sunday, August 8, 2010. Mrs. Bishop was born October 17, 1912 in Nash County, N.C., the daughter of the late Walter Williamson Anderson and Mattie Archbell Anderson. She was predeceased by her husband, Hilton Oris "Red" Bishop and a grandson, Ethan Robert Jones. She was a member of Enfield United Methodist Church.

Mattie was a joy and was known to speak kindness to all. She was a shining example for her extensive family and enjoyed every step of life's journey.Survivors include her children, Linda Bishop Jones (Bob) of Rocky Mount, Hilton Oris Bishop Jr. (Judy) of Goldsboro and Celia Bishop Whitehead of Raleigh. Her sisters, Emma Hamill of Enfield and Rachel Hamm (Ovid) of Tarboro. Her brother, Harry Anderson (Clennie) of Enfield. Two granddaughters, Angie MacKinnon (Matthew) and Draughn Bishop Whitehead Arnona (Tony). Two great grandchildren, Holden Hose and Greyson MacKinnon.

Funeral services will be held, Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Enfield United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
